Reflection Log #1

 Name: Taylor Kristyn Carter

Date: September 9, 2013

Product Topic: Christian Ministry

This time segment: 1.5 Hours

Procedure: I met with the head pastor at Osborne Baptist Church to ask if I could use the church’s facilities to hold my benefit concert.  We discussed the focus of my project and what my plan for the night was.

Reflection: I was extremely nervous going into the meeting.  I knew that my ability to present my project with confidence would determine if the money would be raised for Mount Carmel Cross Connection.  He was more than happy to provide an resources or services I need to carry out the plan for my project.  He offer me full access to all of the churches resources and we arranged to meet with the other pastors of the church on October 25, 2013 to work out the logistics of the concert.  We set the date for December 1, 2013.

Procedure: I met with the sound team at Osborne Baptist Church to work out the logistics and get the specifics planned out for the concert.

Reflection:  I met with Ryan Muphy,  David Bray, and Kevin Bedard to start getting a finalized schedule for the night as well as getting all the information from the bands to them so they can start plannning accordingly.  They were more than supportive of me and my project.  They sat down and explained to me everything I needed to start doing to get the concert into action.  They understood that I have never done anything like this and they walked me through everything that they would be doinng in the coming weeks to get prepared for the night.

Reflection Log #3

Name: Taylor Kristyn Carter

Date:  November 5, 2013

Product Topic: Christian Ministry

This time segment:  5 hours

Procedure: I went to Eden, NC in search of businesses willing to purchase advertisements on the back of my fundraiser t-shirt.  I went into their places of work and spoke with managers and owners about the goals and necessities of my project.

Reflection: I got a total of 4 sponsors for the day.  Many people said that they would sponsor me but that they would have to talk to their associates first and they told me to come back at a later date.  I feel like I am getting better at talking to complete strangers about my project.  Most people today were willing to hear me out about my project whereas last time most people didn't even let me finish telling them what I was raising money for.  My grand total of money raised is now is $375.

Reflection Log #4

Name: Taylor Kristyn Carter

Date: December 1, 2013

Product Topic: Christian Ministry

This time segment: 8 Hours

Procedure:  I loaded in all equipment for the concert, prepared their lounge spaces, and handled all problems that arose from the time we started setting up until the end of the night.

Reflection:  I got to the church around 3pm to start loading the bands equipment in and start to set up for the concert.  I had to make sure that everything was prepared for the actual performance and troubleshoot any problems that arose.  There were several problems with sound equipment that were handled in a timely manner so that the concert could continue.  There was one huge problem that came about and that was the neighbor that proceeded to burst through the doors of the church and begin yelling about how loud the noise was.  Fortunately we had a police officer on scene who took him outside and forced him to leave the campus. It was amazing to see all of my hard work come together and to see everyone having a great time worshiping.
