Chelsey Crite

My name is Chelsey Crite and I’m currently a junior at Morehead. The first word I think of when people ask me to describe myself is random. A lot of the time my mind jumps from one idea to the other and it confuses a lot of people. When I hold a conversation with someone, the subject of the conversation could change seven times within five minutes. People have told me that their first impression of me is usually that I’m stuck up. I wouldn’t say that about myself at all. I love talking to all kinds of people. I find myself infatuated with people who express their individuality regardless of what others think. Something that bothers me the most is when I see people who won’t do something that everyone else is doing out of fear of looking weird. I can’t seem to make up my mind on a lot of things. During the summer, I wish it was winter, and during the winter, I wish it could be summer already. I change my idea on what clothes I want to wear in the morning like 20 different times before I finally decide what I want to wear. I dress up maybe once a week, but after that I feel like it’s enough. I always try to do it on a Friday, because if I did it on a Monday I feel like people will expect it from me that whole week. I’m not big on wearing makeup, it’s just not who I am. My passion is art. I love drawing and creating things, but I can’t seem to draw buildings for the life of me. I mainly do drawings of people since that’s what I’m good at. I never shy away from any opportunity handed to me because who knows what it’ll lead me to. It could be a one in a lifetime chance. I guess you could say I have somewhat of a kid-like mind. I laugh at jokes that should only be funny to a five year old and I’d rather watch Winnie the Pooh than something like Teen Mom. With a mind like that also comes a very big imagination, which I’m proud to admit I have. I’m happy more times than not and you can find me laughing the majority of the time. There are times when I don’t really even know why I’m laughing, but I do it anyway. I speak my mind regardless, and I’ve realized that’s not always a good thing. You’ll very rarely hear me say something bad about anybody though. I get scared so easily it really bothers me sometimes. I’d love to watch the scary movies that I hear everyone talk about, but I find that hard to imagine when I can’t even watch a goosebumps movie by myself.. Saying that, I do watch The Walking Dead, but that’s only if someone is sitting right beside me. It’s not the gruesome aspects of the movies that I can’t handle, it’s the parts where things jump out of nowhere that really gets me. I’m not big into playing sports, I’m quite unathletic. I do swim, but I’m nowhere near the best on the team. I do enjoy working out though, mainly because it just gives me something to do. I’m a fidgety person and I hate sitting around all day, so I feel like working out is a better option. I’m more of an academically focused person, although I do procrastinate a lot. With all the time I spend calculating the latest I can do something I could’ve already done a few assignments. It’s an awful habit that I’m still trying to get rid of. I don’t go out a whole lot, mainly because my parents are so strict it’s impossible. By the time anything starts it’s time for me to be home. I have one best friend, and we’re so much alike it’s a little bit scary. I have a great boyfriend and we’ve been together for almost a year. He gets on my nerves sometimes, but that’s okay. I’m sure I get on his too. The most important person in my life is my mom. Without her, I don’t know where I’d be. We’re a lot alike too. I have one little brother. He’s always so serious, making the times when he’s random so funny. I have a dad and a step dad who I love very dearly. These are the people who make me who I am; that random, childlike, artistic girl.
